§ 118-4. Insurance requirements.
(a)
Each taxicab vehicle operated within unincorporated areas of the county shall have motor vehicle liability insurance and property damage insurance coverage in an amount not less than $25,000.00 per person and $50,000.00 per incident as to public liability and property damage coverage in an amount not less than $20,000.00.
(b)
Each limousine, limousine-van and shuttle bus operated within unincorporated areas of the county shall have motor vehicle liability insurance and property damage insurance and property damage insurance coverage in an amount not less than $100,000.00 per person and $300,000.00 per occurrence as to public liability and property damage coverage in an amount not less than $50,000.00.
(c)
Each motorbus operated within unincorporated areas of the county shall have motor vehicle liability insurance and property damage insurance coverage in an amount not less than $100,000.00 per person and $300,000.00 per occurrence as to public liability and property damage coverage in an amount not less than $50,000.00.
(d)
Such insurance shall be kept in full force and effect by the owner of the taxicab or motor vehicle for hire at all times. Failure to file evidence of such insurance or failure to have such insurance in full force and effect, shall be considered a violation of this chapter. If any such policy of insurance is canceled, the owner shall not operate or cause to be operated any taxicab or motor vehicle for hire covered by such policy until other like insurance is obtained.
(e)
Such insurance shall provide that the certificate holder's insurance coverage may neither expire nor be cancelled until 30 days after written notice of the expiration or cancellation has been given to the code enforcement division of the county.
(f)
The operator of a taxicab or motor vehicle for hire shall carry proof of insurance with him at all times and shall display such proof to enforcement authorities upon request. Additionally, certificates indicating insurance coverage shall be placed on file with the county through filing with the secretary of the code enforcement division. Any change or cancellation in coverage or amounts thereof shall be immediately communicated to the secretary of the code enforcement division.
