§ 18-37. Airport manager; appointment; responsibilities and duties.

  • (a)

    The airport manager shall be appointed in one of the following ways:

    (1)

    If the airport manager is to be an employee of the county, the appointment shall be made by the county manager; or

    (2)

    If the airport manager is not an employee, the board of county commissioners may designate the airport manager.

    The airport manager shall take such action as deemed necessary to coordinate the implementation of the provisions of this article, and other laws, rules and regulations, and ordinances relating to the development and operation of the airport and land use within the airport, and shall report violations of air safety and flight operations which the airport manager observes to the FAA.

    (b)

    If an emergency exists at the airport, the county manager or designee is empowered to issue such directives and take such action as necessary to protect people, property and assets and promote the safe operation of the airport.
