§ 50-42. Sprinkler and alarm requirements.
(a)
Except as otherwise provided in this article, the standards, requirements and specifications for the installation of automatic sprinkler system and alarm system prescribed in NFPA No. 13, as is hereby adopted by the county.
(b)
Buildings constructed after the effective date of this section which are three floors or more in height, or exceed 35 feet in height, or exceed 15,000 square feet in area per floor, and which are included in a light or ordinary hazard occupancy classification, as specified in NFPA No. 101 as adopted by section 50-41 herein, for which a building permit is requested, shall be equipped with an automatic sprinkler system and alarm system, as specified in NFPA No. 13. Buildings which exist as of the effective date of this section and are subsequently expanded by less than 50 percent of their original floor area shall not be required to come into compliance with this section.
