§ 50-47. Flammable materials.

  • The use of construction materials which, by their nature, generate undue fire hazard is prohibited. These materials include but are not limited to the following: flammable fiberglass, flammable plastic and vinyl, interior or exterior finishes which have high flame-spread characteristics; wood shakes or shingles or any other roofing material which is easily ignitable or encourages the spread of fire; and any flammable decorative materials; provided, however, the wood shakes or shingles which have been chemically treated to be fire retardant may be used provided that the individual desiring to use such wood shakes or shingles shall submit test documents to the fire official which verify that treatment has been used and that the treatment will continue to be effective under the prolonged exposure to the coastal environment in the county.
