§ 70-39. Duties of the board.

(a)

The members of the Brevard County Library System Board shall meet and organize within 30 days after their appointment and at least annually thereafter, and shall elect one member chairman, another vice-chairman, and another secretary, whose duties shall be those usually pertaining to the respective offices.

(b)

The Brevard County Library System Board shall assist and advise the board of county commissioners of Brevard County, Florida, on the establishment, operation and maintenance of public library services within Brevard County, Florida. The Brevard County Library System Board shall have the power to:

(1)

Establish its own rules and procedures subject to approval of the board of county commissioners of Brevard County, Florida.

(2)

Make recommendations to the board of county commissioners of Brevard County, Florida, in coordination with the library services director regarding the administration of funds derived from the levy for library services.

(3)

Make recommendations to the board of county commissioners of Brevard County, Florida, regarding standards necessary for the continued establishment, operation and maintenance of the Brevard County Library System.

(c)

The board of county commissioners of Brevard County, Florida, shall have sole authority for the administration of the Brevard County Library System and the adoption of all policies, procedures, standards, rules and regulations applicable thereto.
