§ 202-46. Annual bonus for employees, officers.

  • (a)

    The board of county commissioners and all elected officials of Brevard County, including the clerk of the circuit court, clerk of the court of record, tax collector, tax assessor [now property appraiser], sheriff, supervisor of registration [now supervisor of elections], and county solicitor, are authorized to pay an annual bonus to any of their employees in addition to the employee's base salary.

    (b)

    The total bonus paid to any employee during any calendar year shall not exceed five percent of such employee's annual gross salary.

    (c)

    Nothing contained in this section shall be construed to make obligatory the payment of a bonus to any employee. It shall be discretionary with the board of county commissioners and each elected official as to which employee shall receive a bonus and the amount.

    (d)

    This section shall be authority for the payment of such bonuses from the county general fund during the calendar year in which it is enacted and subsequent years.
