§ 202-203. Purpose, intent of provisions.

  • It is hereby declared as a matter of legislative determination that the extensive growth of population and attendant industry and commerce throughout Brevard County has given rise to public health, water drainage, water conservation, water control and navigation, bulkheading, dredging and filling problems in said county; that inadequate drainage, conservation and control of water in the county is causing flooding and drought and lack of drainage or inadequate drainage of lands in said county, and wastage of sources of water supply, and that those results cause extensive damage to lands, residences, commercial buildings and business activity throughout the county and cause soil erosion in said county; that there is need for extension of recreational and commercial waterways and improvement of existing waterways, and to cooperate with agencies that have an interest in navigation; that it is the intent and purpose of this division to provide means to alleviate such conditions in said county, and for the purpose of promoting the health, safety, morals, protection of property, economic improvement and general welfare of the people of Brevard County. It is further declared that this division is for a county purpose.
