§ 218-1. Registry funds of circuit court.

  • (a)

    Moneys paid into the registry of the circuit court of Brevard County pursuant to court order or voluntarily by any person are designated as registry funds.

    (b)

    The clerk of the circuit court is authorized to deposit such registry funds in this custody in savings accounts of a depository qualified under the provisions of F.S. ch. 136 and the regulations of the comptroller pursuant thereto.

    (c)

    Interest paid on registry funds in such savings accounts shall inure to the benefit of the person depositing such funds into the registry of the court, and upon withdrawal of the funds from the registry of the court the clerk of the circuit court shall pay to such person the interest accrued.

    (d)

    "Person" means any person, firm, corporation, municipality or legally constituted authority authorized to levy taxes in Brevard County.

    (e)

    Interest paid on public registry funds shall inure to the benefit of Brevard County and shall be collected by the clerk of the circuit court and placed in the Brevard County general fund.

    (f)

    Nothing herein contained shall be construed to affect, limit or prohibit the collection of the compensation of the clerk of the circuit court for receiving and paying out moneys from the registry of the court as provided in F.S. § 28.24.
