§ 222-39. Purpose.

  • It is hereby declared to be the public policy of the county of Brevard to maintain the highest possible practical standards of purity of the air and waters of Brevard County consistent with public health and public enjoyment thereof. Pursuant thereto, when acting under the provisions of this division, the board of county commissioners of Brevard County shall be known as and is hereby designated the Brevard County pollution control commission. Said pollution control commission is hereby authorized and empowered to promote recreational resources, the propagation and protection of wildlife, birds, game, fish and other aquatic life, to facilitate the growth of desirable natural plant and animal life and the industrial development of the county, all consistent with maximum employment and full industrial development of the county, and to that end may require the use of all known, available and reasonable methods to be employed by industry and others to prevent and control the pollution of the waters and air of Brevard County, all of which is hereby declared necessary to the health, safety and welfare of the people of Brevard County and to provide means for control and prevention of pollution of the waters and air of the county.
