§ 254-34. Authorized insurance benefits for director, employees; payment.

  • (a)

    The board of county commissioners of Brevard County, acting as the governing body of Brevard mosquito control district, is authorized and empowered to provide for life, health, accident, hospitalization, surgical and annuity insurance, or all or any such insurance for the director and employees of said mosquito control district and for their families, upon a group insurance plan, and to that end to enter into agreements with insurance companies to provide such insurance. This insurance may include coverage for those relying on prayer or spiritual means alone for healing in accordance with the teachings of a well-recognized church or denomination.

    (b)

    The board of county commissioners of Brevard County, acting as the governing body of Brevard mosquito control district, is within its discretion authorized and empowered to pay all or any portion of the premiums of such group insurance from the moneys collected from the special tax levied in the Brevard mosquito control district to be used in carrying out the purposes of chapter 18437, Special Acts of 1937, [compiled in this article] as operating expenses.

    (c)

    The board of county commissioners of Brevard County, acting as the governing body of Brevard mosquito control district, is authorized to deduct periodically from the wages of the director or any employee upon the written request of such director or such employee any premium or portion of premium for such insurance.
