§ 22-803. Definitions.
Boat ramp is a sloped area partially above and below the water surface, used for launching or landing watercraft on private residential lots.
Cofferdam is a temporary watertight enclosure.
Mangrove means any specimen, or any portion of any specimen, living or dead, of the species Avicennia germinans (black mangrove), Luguncularia racemosa (white mangrove), Rhizophora mangle (red mangrove) or Conocarpus erectus (buttonwood).
Rock riprap toe protection is a course of stones, boulder or rock loosely laid against an existing bank or shore for the purpose of preventing or controlling erosion.
Shoreline protection buffer means the protected area adjacent to and landward of the surface waters of the county as established in § 62-3661 of this Code. On non-bulkheaded lots, the waterward extent of the shoreline protection buffer shall be the mean high-water line or the safe upland line, as agreed upon by the applicant. On bulkheaded lots, the waterward extension of the shoreline protection buffer shall be the established or existing bulkhead line.
