§ 202-56. General authority.

  • (a)

    The board of county commissioners and all fee basis officers of Brevard County are authorized and empowered to provide for life, health, accident, hospitalization, surgical and annuity insurance, or all or any such insurance, for themselves and their employees and for their families, upon a group insurance plan, and to that end to enter into agreements with insurance companies to provide such insurance.

    (b)

    The board of county commissioners and the various fee basis officers of Brevard County are, within their discretion, authorized and empowered to pay all or any portion of the premiums for such group insurance as operating expenses.

    (c)

    The board of county commissioners and the various fee basis officers of Brevard County are authorized to deduct periodically from the wages of any employee upon the written request of such employee any premium or portion of premium for any such insurance.

    (d)

    The providing of any such insurance by said board and said fee basis officers is determined and declared to be a county purpose.

    (e)

    All moneys paid for any portion of the premiums for such group insurance as county operating expenses from and after October 1, 1963, are retroactively approved and validated.
